Search for Woman Swept Away Amid NSW Weather Chaos
ROTHBURY, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUG 2 – The woman was swept away after attempting to exit a car stuck in floodwaters following heavy rain that caused 80mm of rainfall and multiple flood incidents, NSW SES said.
- Emergency services are conducting a search near Rothbury, close to Branxton, for a woman who was carried off by floodwaters after her car became trapped on Saturday night.
- The search follows reports that a 27-year-old female driver and a woman passenger in her 20s tried exiting the Mini Countryman before the passenger was swept away.
- Meanwhile, SES crews rescued a 40-year-old man trapped in floodwater in a tree near Black Creek, pulled him safely to shore, and NSW Ambulance treated him before hospital transfer.
- Parts of Scone remain under emergency flood warnings with residents asked to evacuate, and damaging winds up to 90 km/h with heavy rain up to 130 mm are forecast across the region today.
- Authorities advise against driving through floodwaters and urge preparedness as emergency services continue searches and manage widespread weather impacts in NSW.
