Search-and-Rescue Operations Underway in Western Alaska After Storm
- On Monday, the Alaska State Troopers said at least 34 people were rescued in Kwigillingok and Kipnuk after a powerful storm flooded coastal communities and destroyed homes.
- Meteorologists said the remnants of Typhoon Halong battered the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Sunday, with hurricane-force winds up to 100 mph and tides surging over 6 feet in Kipnuk and Kwigillingok.
