Two Training Planes Collide Near Chilliwack, One Lands Safely
One aircraft landed safely with two occupants while the other was submerged in a quarry lagoon, and no patients were taken to hospital, officials said.
- Two planes from flight schools collided mid-air near Chilliwack, British Columbia, in the Fraser Valley. Search and rescue teams responded immediately to reports of the crash.
- The collision took place around 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Wolfe Road and Skway Road. Fire crews arrived to find one aircraft completely submerged in a quarry lagoon.
- Garry Atkins with the Chilliwack Airport reported one aircraft carrying two occupants landed safely. The second plane, containing one person, became submerged following the collision.
- Emergency Health Services dispatched five ambulances to the scene, though no patients required hospital transport. A landing zone established for response was cancelled at around 6 p.m.
