By Tuesday afternoon, the Split police had arrested a total of three people in connection with the incident on Monday evening in Split, where a group of young men interrupted the Day of Serbian Culture program, it was officially confirmed by the Split police.
Split police have detained three men suspected of being part of a group of masked hooligans who prevented the holding of a Folklore Evening as part of the Serbian Culture Day in the premises of the Baltina City District in Split.
The incident in Split, in which a group of about fifty masked young men interrupted the opening of the Day of Serbian Culture with Ustasha chants, is a symptom of Croatia's sharp turn to the right in recent months
"There is an atmosphere in Croatia that is frightening for members of minorities, especially Serbs," says Aleksandar Popov.
A large group of people broke into a cultural event organized by the Serbian minority in Split on Monday evening and interrupted the event, shouting Ustasha salutes and insulting Serbs. The incident was condemned by both the ruling and opposition parties, and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković also called for swift action by the authorities, Croatian media reported.
