Twenty-year term sought for French surgeon in mass sex abuse trial

A French prosecutor on Friday requested the maximum 20-year sentence for a former surgeon who admitted to sexually abusing almost 300 patients, mostly children.

He admitted that he had abused almost 300 patients, on average they were eleven years old. A surgeon from France is therefore currently on trial. If it is after the charge, there can only be the maximum penalty for him.

Twenty years of imprisonment with a series of security measures were required on Friday in the "out-of-standard" trial against former child surgeon Joël Le Scouarnec, tried in France for rape and sexual assault on 299 people, for most minor patients at the time of the crime.
