Scoop of the year: Aldi’s vanilla ice cream wins Which? taste test – beating big brands at over double the price
The £2.69 tub beat Häagen-Dazs and other premium brands in a blind panel test, scoring 77% and earning Which? Best Buy.
Aldi's Specially Selected Madagascan Vanilla Ice Cream won the Which? Best Vanilla Ice Cream taste test, securing a prestigious Best Buy award for the £2.69 product.
Which? conducts rigorous blind tests using expert panels and consumers; Aldi outperformed luxury rivals including Sainsbury's Taste the Difference, Morrisons The Best, and Tesco Finest.
Priced at £2.69 for 480ml, Aldi's scoop costs less than half the £5.75 Häagen-Dazs alternative, which contains only 460ml and scored lower.
Chief Commercial Officer Julie Ashfield said, "In this sunny spell, there's no better time for shoppers," calling the win an ultimate seal of approval.
Rising temperatures make this an ideal time for shoppers to discover summer staples, proving consumers need not sacrifice quality or pay premium prices for indulgence.
