Scientists using the James Webb Telescope have discovered a black hole, known as QS01, which they believe may have formed shortly after the Big Bang, or before it was engulfed by a galaxy. It is surrounded by a diffuse halo and appears as a small red dot through the telescope. Confirmation of the discovery of the so-called primordial black hole could turn theories about the universe upside down.
