Simplified nanoparticles "educate" the immune system to find and destroy disease-causing cells
Johns Hopkins Medicine scientists say they have developed a simplified version of biodegradable nanoparticles that can "educate" the immune system to find and destroy disease-causing cells throughout the body.
A team of scientists from Johns Hopkins University has developed a new strategy to train the immune system to fight diseases from within. According to researchers in an article published this Wednesday in Science Advances magazine, tiny biodegradable nanoparticles have been designed to introduce "genetic instructions" into certain defensive cells of the body to learn to "seek and destroy" problematic cells for the body.
