Scientists turn end-of-life PV silicon into high-value silicon nitride
Researchers have developed a method to upcycle silicon recovered from end-of-life PV modules into high-value silicon nitride. The process achieved recycled silicon purity of 99.95% through optimised milling, acid etching, and sedimentation before nitridation.
South Korean researchers have developed a method to superrecilate silicon recovered from photovoltaic modules at the end of its life and convert it into high-value silicon nitride (Si3N4). The process achieved a recycled silicon purity of 99.95% by optimizing milling, acid attack and sedimentation before nitrition.
