Since April 2024, 80 fishing vessels have been modernized, while for the first time, small-scale coastal fishing professionals have the opportunity to take advantage of grant schemes that cover 100% of eligible expenditure, without requiring private participation, said the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Christos Senekis.

The government's will to strengthen Greek fisheries, with an emphasis on modernizing the sector, supporting professionals and attracting a new generation of fishermen, was underlined by the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Margaritis Schinas, opening the conference on "Revision of the Common Fisheries Policy - Challenges and Opportunities for Greece", in Thessaloniki.

He placed particular emphasis on the participation of fishermen in the decision-making process, noting that the new Common Fisheries Policy cannot be designed in their absence.
