After her election success in Saxony-Anhalt, the AfD could for the first time appoint the president of a state parliament. The BSW would support a candidate of the party.
According to parliamentary practice, the largest group in a German parliament is also entitled to the President of Parliament. At the AfD in Thuringia, this tradition was ignored – the BSW in Saxony-Anhalt wants to respect it and elect an AfD President.
So far, the AfD has never succeeded in taking over the office of President of Parliament – even if it was the strongest party. This could change now in Saxony-Anhalt.
