Satwik-Chirag one step away from season's second title after booking third China Masters final
On Saturday, Indian badminton stars Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty secured their spot in the China Masters final, defeating Malaysia's Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub and Tan Wee Kiong 21-16, 18-21, 21-11 at Shenzhen Arena.
This victory marks the duo's third appearance in the China Masters final since 2023, showcasing their comeback campaign following recent injury issues for Rankireddy.
During the 66-minute contest, the pairs engaged in a 54-shot rally at 18-15 in the second game, but the Indians dominated the decisive third game 21-11.
Rankireddy and Shetty now advance to Sunday's summit clash, aiming for their second title of the season against either Tee Kai Wun and Yap Roy King or Chinese duo He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang Yu.
After winning the Singapore Open in May, the pair seeks to improve on their 2023 and 2025 runner-up finishes, positioning them as contenders for a second title this season.
