Saskatchewan – The Cumberland House Cree Nation in northeastern Saskatchewan is taking the province to court, alleging it has failed to uphold treaty obligations to protect the Saskatchewan River system. The First Nation claims that government activity has degraded the Saskatchewan River delta’s ecosystem, rendering the water no longer safe to drink and causing fish species to disappear.
