Officers Seize 380 Kg of Drugs Declared as Bath Tissue at Alberta-U.S. Border
Officers found about 380 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine and cocaine in a commercial truck declared as bath tissue, CBSA said.
- On July 2, The Canada Border Services Agency seized about 380 kilograms of suspected drugs at the Coutts border crossing after inspecting a commercial truck arriving from California.
- Although the shipment was declared as bath tissue, officers noticed irregularities during the inspection, prompting a deeper search of the vehicle.
- The search revealed 300 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine and 80 kilograms of suspected cocaine concealed inside 12 moving boxes, a smaller box, and a duffle bag.
- Border officers arrested the driver at the scene, and the seized narcotics were handed over to the RCMP for further investigation.
- The truck was destined for Vilna, about 150 kilometres northeast of Edmonton, while last year the agency seized more than 1,300 kilograms of meth and cocaine in Alberta.
