The Spanish Prime Minister is again under criticism for granting judicial pardons to three people close to his party or to his political interests. The defenders of the measure argue that the most controversial pardon, by Laura Borràs, former President of the Catalan Parliament and former leader of the separatist party Together for Catalonia, will serve to normalize relations with the region.
Borràs was sentenced in 2023 to four and a half years in prison for cutting contracts to the finger in favor of a friend in the Catalan Lletres Institute. Grueso, cultural manager of Niemeyer, and Fernández, former mayor of Linares, were sentenced for embezzlement of public money in the PSOE environment.
