Super Greens Powder Sold at Sam’s Club Recalled After Salmonella Illnesses
Salmonella in organic moringa leaf powder caused 11 illnesses and three hospitalizations linked to Member's Mark Super Greens, prompting a nationwide recall by Sam's Club, officials said.
- On Friday, Sam's Club recalled all Member's Mark Super Greens dietary supplement powders nationwide after federal officials announced the action.
- Investigators traced the cause to a moringa ingredient, identifying a single lot of organic moringa leaf powder from Vallon Farm Direct PVT LTD, Jodhpur, India as the contamination source, the FDA said.
- CDC reported 11 illnesses and three hospitalizations in seven states, including Florida, Kansas, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
- The FDA advised consumers to discard or return the recalled powder for a full refund, and Sam's Club said it stopped distribution, saying, `We moved quickly to remove this product from our impacted clubs as soon as we were notified by the supplier.`
