Salmonella, E. coli, norovirus are some of the common foodborne germs
Officials say more than 1,600 people got sick after eating at Taco Bell locations served by a single lettuce supplier.
- The CDC and The FDA linked an outbreak of cyclosporiasis to iceberg lettuce that Taylor Farms supplied to Taco Bell locations on Thursday. More than 1,600 people reported getting sick across five states.
- Across Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia, more than 1,600 people reported getting sick after eating at Taco Bell. The outbreak marks the first cyclosporiasis notice the CDC issued this year.
- The FDA traced the iceberg lettuce to a single supplier in Mexico. Taco Bell is working to stop using the contaminated product immediately.
- Marking the 10th notice for the parasite since 2006, this cyclosporiasis surge represents the first outbreak alert the CDC issued this year for the foodborne illness.
