Sagar Hooch Tragedy: Wanted Accused Held After Brief Encounter with Police

- Police arrested Shivanjay Rajput early on Sunday following a brief encounter near Kathua Nala forest area, with the 21-year-old suspect suffering a gunshot wound to his leg during the exchange.
- The Sagar spurious liquor tragedy claimed 16 lives since last week, and Rajput, a resident of Chhapri, had been absconding after allegedly brewing the liquor that caused the deaths.
- Earlier, on Friday, Police captured Ravi Lakhera, a key accused from Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, and recovered a country-made.315-bore pistol and three live cartridges from Rajput's possession.
- With Rajput's arrest, the total accused arrested in the spurious liquor case reached 19, and sub-inspector RKS Chauhan confirmed his condition remained stable following hospital transfer.
- Police claim a suspected gang from Lalitpur orchestrated manufacture and supply of the spurious liquor, as teams from Bandri and Bahrol police stations continue investigating the wider criminal network.
