Sabrina Carpenter Gets 5-Year Restraining Order Against Man Who Kept Trying to Enter Her Home
Judge David L. Wasserman barred William Applegate from contacting Carpenter or coming within 100 yards after repeated attempts to enter her home.
On Wednesday, Superior Court Judge David Wasserman issued a five-year restraining order against William Applegate, 31, following a pattern of stalking behavior targeting pop star Sabrina Carpenter at her Los Angeles home.
Applegate trespassed on Carpenter's property four times since April, allegedly hitting a security guard and breaching security fencing to reach her front door unannounced on May 23 before police arrested him.
Defending himself in court, Applegate claimed he and the 27-year-old singer are part of a "classified military government program," insisting their union is essential to "national and global security."
The order requires Applegate to stay at least 100 yards from Carpenter, her sister Sarah Carpenter, and her partner George Smith, while prohibiting him from possessing any firearms.
Applegate remains under a criminal investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, though court records indicate no formal charges have been filed following the civil court proceedings.
Sabrina Carpenter obtained a restraining order against her alleged stalker after a judge ordered the man to keep a minimum distance of 100 yards (about 91 meters) from the singer for the next five years, CBS News reported.
