Sabino Ormazabal, a veteran activist of various social and political causes but especially for peace and non-violence, has died at the age of 73. Born in Donostia - San Sebastián, he suffered a fatal episode after falling down and beating himself while participating in the Kantu Jira that usually travels the streets of the Old Part performing well-known melodies in Basque.

Sabino Ormazabal Elola (1953) died in Donostia on Monday morning. He was an environmentalist and anti-militarist activist, a lifelong promoter of civil disobedience and non-violence, and was even imprisoned for it.
