Kody Clemens Helps Twins Avoid Sweep at Hands of Brewers
Jeffers broke a fifth-inning tie and Clemens drove in two runs as Minnesota ended Milwaukee’s chance at a three-game sweep.
On Sunday, the Minnesota Twins defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 5-4 at Target Field, avoiding a three-game sweep. Ryan Jeffers hit a tiebreaking homer and Kody Clemens added two doubles and two RBIs.
Entering the game, Milwaukee had won each of the first two series games by one run, with Garrett Mitchell and Christian Yelich hitting solo homers for the Brewers.
Bailey Ober allowed three runs on six hits over five innings, while Luke Keaschall tripled in the eighth and scored on Victor Caratini's sacrifice fly.
Five relievers worked the final four innings to preserve the win. Luis Garc secured his second save after Jake Bauers' "RBI single with two outs in the ninth cut Minnesota," with Sal Frelick popping out for the final out.
The Twins host Houston for a three-game series starting Monday, while Milwaukee travels to face the Chicago Cubs with RHP Brandon Sproat scheduled to start.
