Russian Strikes Kill 13, Injure 104 Across Ukraine, Damage Kryvyi Rih Hospital
- On Tuesday, Oct. 6, Russian forces struck a hospital in central Kryvyi Rih with two Banderol loitering munitions, wounding three people. Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, confirmed the attack on Telegram.
- Kryvyi Rih, a major industrial center in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region and the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky, has faced repeated Russian attacks targeting industrial facilities, schools, and energy infrastructure.
- The Banderol, also known as the Dan-T, functions as a hybrid between an attack drone and a cruise missile. Powered by a jet engine, it reaches speeds of approximately 500-560 kilometers per hour and carries warheads weighing up to 135 kilograms.
- Vilkul reported that a female hospital employee required surgery for serious wounds, while an injured man and another woman remained in moderate condition. Officials have not confirmed if patients were affected or whether the facility continues operating.
- Russia increasingly employs Banderol systems alongside Shahed-type drones and conventional missiles to overwhelm Ukrainian air defenses. Moscow has developed mobile ground launchers for the weapon, previously deployed from Orion drones and Mi-28 attack helicopters.
