Russia's oil output rises in July on firm exports, refinery run recovery, sources say
Industry sources said stronger exports and recovering refinery runs lifted output by about 100,000 barrels per day to above 9 million bpd.
On Thursday, industry sources told Reuters that Russia's crude and condensate output rose by roughly 100,000 barrels per day in July to more than 9 million bpd, supported by stronger exports.
Earlier this year, refinery damage knocked processing capacity offline, but July's recovery followed a partial restoration of throughput that freed additional barrels for export.
According to OPEC, Russia's production fell by 61,000 bpd in June to 8.928 million bpd from 8.989 million bpd in May, though Russia plans a 4% increase in western port crude exports for August.
Intensifying Ukrainian drone attacks forced several refineries to suspend operations, with a fire erupting Thursday at a Yaroslavl facility following another strike.
Russia is unlikely to maintain July's output level in August, as The Bank of Russia noted that limited transport infrastructure restricts the ability to redirect freed-up crude to exports.
