The President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, warned of the risk of a political fracture and of the country repeating the fate of the Weimar Republic. Germanist Alexandr Kamkin considers the comparison valid only in terms of the weakness of power, and incorrect if it reads an allusion to a second NSDAP.
Russian expert Kamkin, commenting on German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier's comparison of Germany to the Weimar Republic on German Unity Day, stated that this comparison was flawed and merely an attempt by the government to conceal its own mistakes.
