Russian drones injure 20 in Ukraine's Kharkiv, Ukrainian officials say
Russian drones caused injuries to more than 20 civilians and damaged multiple buildings in Kharkiv and Dnipro, part of ongoing attacks near Ukraine's front-line regions.
- On March 9, Russian drones struck Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, and the southeastern city of Dnipro overnight, injuring more than 20 people, Ukrainian officials said.
- Kharkiv lies 30 km from the Russian border and has been a frequent target since the February 2022 invasion, with Russian drones injuring more than 20 people days after the March 7 ballistic missile strike that killed 11.
- Kharkiv officials said drones struck the Industrialnyi and Kholodnohirskyi districts, injuring about 10 people including a teenager, while a high-rise strike injured seven and an overnight hit injured four.
- Mayor Borys Filatov said at least eight multi-story and high-rise buildings were damaged, several hundred windows smashed, and rescue and damage-assessment teams worked amid rubble in streets.
- Ukraine's air force said Russia launched 137 drones and downed 122, while Oleksandr Ganzha, Dnipro regional Governor, reported 10 injuries including a 12-year-old boy.
