The court's ruling followed multiple appeals from the local authorities and the prescription of part of the violations committed in 2021. The issue is the disclosure of personal data from opponents of Russia to the country.
The Lisbon Chamber was ordered to pay EUR 463,000 for GDPR violations in the case of Russiagate, after the prescription of 42 counter-orders had reduced the previously set fine by EUR 274,000.
Between 2013 and 2021, the Lisbon authorities sent anti-Putin activity data to Russian entities.
The Southern Central Administrative Court has set the fine at almost half a million euros, discounting the counter-orders that they have, however, prescribed. However, the value may still be subject to changes.
The case occurred between 2013 and 2021 and is related to the sharing of personal data of anti-Putin activists with the Russian authorities. The fine, initially of 1.25 million euros, was reduced following resources from the local authorities and the prescription of several counter-orders.
The municipality had transmitted to the Russian embassy the contact details of opponents of Vladimir Putin. Five years after the scandal, the Portuguese courts fixed the amount of the sanction, considerably reduced by the prescription of dozens of offences, reports the Diário de Notícias.
