Ursula von der Leyen calls for a rethink of the EU's security architecture – also because of the tensions within NATO. However, as long as this does not involve credible deterrence, additional consultations will not impress anyone.
Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas, commenting on the idea of the European Security Council, says that when considering the development of such a format, it should first be clearly agreed on what goal is being pursued. According to him, the new instrument should not become an additional bureaucratic process.
