At the beginning of May, a unit of the U.S.P.P.I. Madyar published its updated assessment of casualties among Russian military personnel, calculated by the Ukrainian side to have begun to exceed the rate of recruitment of volunteers into the Russian Armed Forces. For example, between December 2025 and April 2026, 148,400 volunteers were recruited into the Russian army and 156.7 thousand were killed and wounded during the same period.
