The European Union is preparing new sanctions after Russia's elections to the State Council, and there will be restrictions on voting organizers and candidates in the occupied territories of Ukraine, as well as on those who Europe considers to be involved in undermining free elections within Russia, as described in a statement on the EU Council website published by the head of European diplomacy, Kai Callas.
For the first time, Ukraine's occupied territories also have to participate in the Russian Duma election. The EU does not recognise the elections there and announces sanctions against organizers and candidates. The exclusion of the anti-war party Jabloko is also criticised.
