Russia bans aviation fuel exports until November 30
The five-month curb aims to stabilize domestic supplies as Ukrainian drone strikes have hit eight of Russia’s 10 biggest refineries, Reuters reported.
On Monday, the Russian government announced a ban on jet fuel exports until November 30, 2026, designed to "ensure a stable situation in the domestic fuel market."
Ukrainian drone strikes on refineries forced the restriction, with record-breaking attacks in May targeting eight of Russia's 10 biggest refineries and reducing output across the sector.
Refinery throughput averaged 4.58 million barrels per day in May, representing a 13% decline from the previous year and the lowest level since October 2009.
Authorities previously prohibited most gasoline exports starting April 1; the new decree includes exemptions for intergovernmental agreements and fuel in process tanks used by aircraft.
Global jet fuel markets face tightening pressure from the war, and export limits may complicate efforts by Europe to rebuild stocks during the busy summer travel season.
Drone attacks on refineries and other energy infrastructure had already forced the Kremlin to reduce or stop production, and the suspension would remain in effect until 30 November.
Ruska vlada saopštila je danas da zabranjuje izvoz kerozina do 30. novembra, dok se nastavljaju ukrajinski napadi na ruske rafineriye i drugu energetsku infrastrukturu.
Ukraine wants to deprive Russia of a source of income for the war of aggression by attacking oil plants, which is increasingly causing fuel shortages in the country. Now Moscow is trying to counter with various bans.
