TYNE AND WEAR, ENGLAND, JUL 23 – A rugby ball placed at a beach by Rockcliff Rugby Club traveled an estimated 750 km before being found by a German family who contacted the club about the discovery.
- While fishing off Lønstrup, a German family saw the ball drifting in the water and found it washed up, after it drifted roughly 470 miles across the North Sea.
- Two young members, Benjamin and Alexander, added used balls hoping to encourage play, as Rockcliff Rugby Club donated used balls to a communal toy box at Longsands Beach on June 15.
- The ball drifted approximately 750 km before washing up in Denmark, Bernd Terbeek said, adding `My son Hauke saw it drifting in the waves and I picked it up`.
