"The core problem they face," Rubio told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, "unlike the protests you saw in the past on some other topics, is that they don't have a way to address the core complaints of the protesters, which is that their economy is in collapse.
On Wednesday (January 28), U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that the core challenges facing the Iranian regime remain. Because the regime is unable to address the core demands of the people, the Iranian people will likely protest again in the future. Rubio also explained the reasons for Iran's economic collapse at the hearing.
In his speech to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Rubio has insisted that the Iranian economy "is in collapse" and that a "fundamental problem" is that the regime of the Ayatollás "as opposed to the protests that have been seen in the past, they now have no way to address the main demands of the protesters."
