Roy Birkett Roy Birkett, 83, of Gabriola Island and recently Cedar, passed away surrounded by his loving wife and children after a sudden bout of illness. Roy was born in Hucknall, Nottingham England and immigrated to Canada at age 5. He was in the navy for five years before joining the coast guard and ultimately becoming a drywaller by trade.
