They Did It Again: Rosewood Hong Kong Holds Onto Its Crown in The 50 Best Hotels 2026
The hotel topped the list for a second straight year as the awards expanded across 22 territories on six continents, organizers said.
- On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, Rosewood Hong Kong retained its title as the World's Best Hotel for the second consecutive year during an awards ceremony in Paris. The 413-room Victoria Harbour landmark was praised for its exemplary Asaya wellness offering and 11 restaurants and bars.
- After three editions in London, the awards ceremony moved to Les Salles du Carrousel in Paris for the first time. The list celebrates hotels from 22 destinations across six continents, with Europe leading the way with 21 winning properties.
- Capella Sydney, a $300 million heritage restoration, ranked 16th globally and claimed the Best Hotel in Oceania title. The luxury property features 192 contemporary rooms and a 20-metre indoor rooftop pool within the former NSW Department of Education building.
- Italy's Passalacqua took fifth place and earned the Best Boutique Hotel award for a third consecutive year. James McBride, founder of Nihi Hotels, received the SevenRooms Icon Award, the only accolade dedicated to an individual.
- The 50 Best Hotels rankings are determined by the 800-strong Academy comprising hoteliers, journalists, educators, and luxury travellers across 13 regions. Final results are independently audited by Deloitte to ensure integrity.

4 Mexican hotels from 4 different states among world's '50 Best Hotels'
It's no coincidence that the four Mexican hotels honored at the worldwide level are all beachside luxury resorts, taking full advantage of the natural wonders of the states of Yucatán, Quintana Roo, Baja California Sur and Nayarit.
Rosewood Hong Kong held on to the top spot, Asia dominated the podium and our own Asteras remained among the international elite, but dropped ten places.
In the previous year, the Hotel Sacher had just slipped to the list of World's 50 Best Hotels. From 49th place, the luxury hotel in Vienna was now able to improve to 42nd place. Rosewood Hong Kong was named the world's best hotel – again.
