In 2024, Romania imported 117,000 tons of fish and fish products, ten times more than it exported (11,000 tons), data from the National Institute of Statistics show. Domestic production decreased slightly, from 18,000 tons in 2023 to 16,000 tons in 2024, thus covering only 13% of domestic consumption. Thus, we have a strong dependence on foreign markets.
