The mission of Romanian firefighters sent to France to support the extinction of vegetation fires was extended by another two weeks. Florin Stoprș, one of the rescuers mobilised in the framework of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, explained, live at Digi24, that the teams intervene in extremely difficult conditions, marked by high temperatures, dry vegetation and sudden changes in the wind.
The Romanian firefighters will remain in France for another two weeks, where they participate in operations to extinguish fires of vegetation and forest bottom. The extension of the mission was approved by the National Committee for Emergency Situations, after the French authorities continued to call for support through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
Romania is sending firefighters back to Greece to support the Greek authorities in the fight against forest fires.
