Grateful Dead's 60th Anniversary Celebration Expected to Boost San Francisco's Economy
SAN FRANCISCO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, JUL 22 – The deluxe edition includes remastered tracks, over two hours of unreleased recordings, and special vinyl and Blu-ray formats, celebrating the album's lasting impact and musical innovation.
- On September 12, Rhino will release the 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of Blues for Allah, offering a three-disc and hi-res digital set, with liner notes stating `Blues for Allah is the Dead's unique vision`.
- Following an October 1974 hiatus, the Grateful Dead embraced an experimental sound with Eastern scales and atypical time signatures, recording the album almost entirely without pre-written material.
- The Deluxe Edition’s three CDs include the remastered album, the August 12, 1975 soundcheck at Great American Music Hall, the SNACK benefit suite from March 23, 1975 at Kezar Stadium, and June 21, 1976 Tower Theatre performances.
- Previewing the Deluxe Edition, the remastered `The Music Never Stopped` is streaming via digital outlets, a Blu-ray Audio is exclusive to Rhino.com, and a 3,000-copy Blu-ray features four new Steven Wilson mixes.
- The anniversary extends to a three-night gig at Golden Gate Park on August 1-3, with pay-per-view tickets at $39.99 for HD or $49.99 for 4K and opening acts by Billy Strings, Sturgill Simpson, and Trey Anastasio Band.
