Rocket Company Granted Licence to Launch From UK

The German rocket company plans research flights with its SR75 vehicle after passing a regulatory review and says it is ready for launch as soon as conditions allow.

  • On Thursday, German rocket company HyImpulse secured its launch operator licence from the Civil Aviation Authority, clearing regulatory hurdles to conduct flights from SaxaVord Spaceport on Unst.
  • After passing a rigorous regulatory review of its systems and safety procedures, HyImpulse plans to launch its SR75 suborbital vehicle in spring 2027 from Shetland to support research projects.
  • Christian Schmierer, HyImpulse chief executive and co-founder, stated "With the operator licence secured, the most important regulatory milestone has been achieved," confirming technical readiness for launch.
