Two Police Officers Who Were in a Restaurant in Northern Quito Thwart Robbery: Residents Indicate that Robberies Are Constant

On Saturday night, May 17, an attempted assault was thwarted by two plainclothes policemen who were inside a restaurant in the Castro Vaca sector in northern Quito.

Last weekend, two subjects attempted to raid a restaurant located in the former Quito Airport sector. However, the action was thwarted by two undercover police officers who were among the diners. The officers, part of the National Police intelligence unit, were at the scene carrying out work.

The crime dynamics are recovering in Quito. Robbery and extortion increased considerably in the first quarter of this year. Reports for each crime amount to 4,890 and 280, respectively, according to the Office of the Public Prosecutor.
