- Empowered by the Constitution, the Assembly said it must stand by the people of Rivers State and stop infractions by the Governor, Deputy Governor, or other state officers, with members committed to these duties.
- Section 188 requires established allegations and due process, including fair hearing, legislative quorum, and judicial panel investigation, which any deviation renders null and void, commentator Omenazu Jackson said.
- The International Society for Social Justice and Human Rights condemned the commencement of impeachment proceedings and warned lawmakers not to mistake public patience for weakness.
- By referencing Sections 4, 5 and 6 of the Constitution, Jackson warned that any impeachment divorced from the will of the electorate threatens democratic legitimacy.
