"Ask for Forgiveness": Rio Ferdinand Explodes At Portugal Boss Jorge Jesus Over Cristiano Ronaldo Treatment
Piers Morgan and Rio Ferdinand defended Ronaldo as reports said he left after getting only 67 minutes and being benched for the next match.
- Ronaldo left the Portugal team base in Malm, Sweden, last week before the Nations League match against Denmark, having started against Wales but been benched for the subsequent Norway fixture.
- Piers Morgan claims Jesus broke 'absolute guarantees' regarding playing time, alleging the coach promised a full match but substituted Ronaldo after 67 minutes, violating an agreement originating from Saudi Arabia.
- Following the Norway match in Porto on Sunday, Jesus appeared taken aback when asked if he planned to apologize, responding, 'What did I do to have to apologize?'
- Former Manchester teammate Rio Ferdinand criticized Portugal's handling as 'poor,' though he believes a 'rekindling' is likely, arguing the country should not force its 'most iconic guy' to walk away.
- Ronaldo returned to Saudi Arabia on Monday to train with Nassr; he remains eligible for Portugal's final Nations League round in November against Denmark and Wales.
