The plant has been developed in collaboration with C40 Cities and the German agency GIZ and is expected to generate an annual saving of R$ 2 million (about $370 thousand) for the municipality. The objective is to expand the model and reach 20 MW by 2028, taking advantage of other unused areas of the city. Rio City Council inaugurated the Solário Carioca project, a 5 MW photovoltaic plant installed in the Santa Cruz neighborhood, in the West Zone.
