From Friday morning, one-way traffic will be in effect on the IJssel. Due to low water levels, two-way traffic on the relatively narrow river is unsafe. This was reported by Rijkswaterstaat (RWS). Due to low water levels, ships on the IJssel can only sail in the direction of Arnhem between Zutphen and Westervoort starting Friday, reports Rijkswaterstaat (RWS). In some places, the navigation channel in the river is too shallow and too narrow. This makes two-way traffic unsafe, according to RWS.
