Ridley Scott and Hugh Jackman team up for Treasure Island reboot

- Since its publication in 1883, Treasure Island has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide and been translated into over 50 languages. The story follows young Jim Hawkins on a dangerous voyage involving a battle of wits with the charismatic pirate Silver.
- Emmy-Winning Adolescence writer Jack Thorne penned the script, while Scott will produce the project alongside Michael Pruss for his Scott Free banner, with the package generating significant industry buzz.
- 20th Century Studios initially reviewed the project but ultimately passed, as the Disney division prioritizes its Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and sought to avoid developing a competing pirate-themed property.
- News of this project follows Scott's upcoming film, 20th Century's The Dog Stars, releasing in August, while Jackman next stars in A24's The Death of Robin Hood, from filmmaker Michael Sarnoski, which opens on June 19.
