Review: Tesla’s cheapest Model Y cuts the price by £7k – but is it worth it?
The pared-back EV cuts about £7,000 from the Premium model while keeping Tesla app connectivity, basic Autopilot and 314 WLTP miles of range.
Tesla has launched the Standard Model in the UK, offering a more accessible version after nearly five years on the market. The pared-back vehicle proves less compromised than expected.
To reduce costs, the Standard Model features a smaller battery, cutting range to 314 WLTP miles, while removing amenities including the panoramic roof, rear heated seats, and light bars.
Performance remains capable with 0-60mph acceleration in 6.9 seconds, while the interior retains dual wireless phone chargers, space in the "frunk," and a minimalist design controlled entirely from the central screen.
Buyers save around £7,000 compared to the Premium version; Tesla suggests the Premium remains the better choice for most, though monthly PCP payments make the Standard more accessible.
Access to Tesla's Supercharger network and app remain key selling points, positioning the Standard Model as a practical option that retains core brand appeal despite reduced specifications.
