Vicar Said “I Have Nothing Else to Do” when Caught with Illegal Child Images
Andrew Robinson, 77, was jailed for 12 months and 12 weeks after police found animated child abuse images on an open laptop during a spot-check.
On June 9, 2026, Dyfed-Powys Police detectives found prohibited images of children on an open laptop during a spot-check at the home of retired vicar Andrew Robinson in Talybont-on-Usk, Brecon.
Following an April 2025 conviction for possessing indecent images, Robinson had been placed on the sex offender register and issued a sexual harm prevention order, making him subject to routine monitoring by Dyfed-Powys Police's offender management unit.
Appearing at Merthyr Magistrates' Court on June 10, 2026, Robinson pleaded guilty to the new offence and breaching his order, claiming he 'didn't think these were illegal' and had 'nothing else to do.'
Robinson received a total custodial term of 12 months and 12 weeks after the court activated his suspended sentence, along with a £187 fine for the breach.
Expelling Robinson, the Church in Wales described his actions as 'abhorrent,' while Detective Sergeant Paula Rutherford said the sentencing reflects the force's focus on 'safeguarding and protection of the public.
