South Korean temple to erect replica of statue returned to Japan: sources
A South Korean temple that handed over a 14th-century Buddhist statue last year to the Japanese temple from which it was stolen will enshrine a replica made from three-dimensional data, sources familiar with the matter said Tuesday.
[Seoul, Kyodo] Regarding the Buddhist statue that was stolen from Kannonji Temple in Tsushima City, Nagasaki Prefecture in 2012 and brought to South Korea before being returned last year, a replica made in South Korea based on 3D data provided by Japan has been completed and will be enshrined on the 17th at Buseoksa Temple in Seosan City, Chungcheongnam-do, which has claimed ownership of the statue.
