Renewed appeal over murder of Antoinette Smith
Investigators say no chief suspect has been identified and are urging anyone with information from 1987 to come forward.
Gardaí have renewed their appeal for information 39 years after Antoinette Smith's murder, urging anyone with "any piece of information" to come forward and assist the ongoing investigation.
The 27-year-old mother went missing on July 11, 1987, after attending a David Bowie concert in Slane and visiting the La Mirage Discotheque on Parnell Street, last seen walking toward O'Connell Street Bridge.
Smith remained missing for nine months until her body was discovered on Glendoo Mountain on April 3, 1988; Detective Inspector Seamus Ryan praised her daughters Rachel and Lisa for being "passionate" advocates.
To encourage new leads, the Garda guarantees "absolute confidentiality" for anyone assisting, with Ryan noting that changed allegiances over decades may help crack the case via Bray Garda Station at 01-6665300.
Investigators continue reviewing all evidence strands with no chief suspect identified; the incident room at Bray Garda Station remains open as authorities hope shifting perspectives will finally provide the breakthrough needed for closure.
