E-Control still believes that the Austrian target of fully ensuring electricity consumption with domestic renewables by 2030 remains achievable. In 2025, renewable energies covered 78 percent of Austrian domestic electricity consumption. However, this is significantly less than in the water-rich previous year.
The share of renewable energies in Austrian electricity consumption has fallen in 2025. Less water in the rivers has dampened production from hydropower and pushed the renewable share to 78 percent, the EAG monitoring report by E-Control shows.
