Remains of 2nd US soldier who went missing during military exercises in Morocco have been recovered
The search involved more than 1,000 U.S. and Moroccan personnel and used air, naval and artificial intelligence assets, officials said.
- On Wednesday, the Army announced the recovery of Spc. Mariyah Symone Collington, the second U.S. soldier missing in Morocco during military exercises. Her remains are en route to the United States.
- Collington and 1st Lamont Key Jr. disappeared May 2 after falling off a cliff during an off-duty recreational hike in Morocco. The military recovered Key's remains last week.
- Their disappearance triggered a search operation involving more than 1,000 U.S. and Moroccan military and civilian personnel. The multinational effort deployed air, naval and artificial intelligence Assets.
- Both soldiers were participating in African Lion, an annual multinational military exercise launched in April across four countries with more than 7,000 personnel from over 30 nations.
- Circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, Army Southern European Task Force officials said. Collington served as an air and missile defense crewmember with the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command.
